The Lantern Maker
The lantern maker has saved the last lantern for you. Tap it to light it.

A storybook Advent calendar to give
A miniature winter village, glowing under the northern lights. Every morning from 1 December another of its doors opens: a golden key at the gate, a frozen fountain, a midnight train, a snow globe with their name on it. Twenty-four doors, each with something to do.

Tap a lantern, a sleeping toy or a bell and watch it come to life.
Rub away the frost on a frozen fountain and the doors of an ice palace.
Follow a snow fox's footprints, find a hidden crystal, catch falling stars, draw a constellation.
Finish a gingerbread cottage, lay a feast, wrap a gift, shake a snow globe with their name on it.
A key at the gate, a book in an old library, a midnight train and the night before Christmas, read or listened to.
Paint the northern lights, feed a reindeer, play a tune, make a private wish, and read a letter from you.
These are real doors from the calendar. Go on, tap them. Nothing here is saved.

Note 1 of 11. Any instrument plays the next note.
Door 1 opens at midnight on 1 December where they live, then one each morning until Christmas Eve. They stay open, so a missed morning is never lost. Giving it late? Choose a later start date, or let them catch up on the doors already open.
Yes, anywhere in the world. You choose their time zone, so the doors open at their midnight, not yours. Prices are in Australian dollars, and your bank converts at checkout.
No. They open it from a private link in their email (or one you send them yourself), on a phone, tablet or computer.
Yes: a greeting behind door 1, a letter behind door 19 and a last message behind door 24. Everything else is already written and illustrated, so it is ready to send in a few minutes.
Only the person you send it to can open it, and only on the morning each door opens, checked by our server, not their device's clock. Their wish on door 14 stays on their own device: nobody else ever sees it, including you.
Every door works with a keyboard and a screen reader, every picture is described, every tap has a button, and the animations stay still for anyone who has asked their device to reduce motion.
The calendar keeps working until 31 March. Thirty days after that, or 30 days after you stop it, it is deleted for good.
