Advent calendars for grown-ups

Digital advent calendars for adults

Most advent calendars are made for children: a chocolate behind every door and a cartoon on the front. These are for grown-ups. Each one opens a new door every morning from 1 December on a phone, tablet or computer, with nothing to hang on the wall and nothing to post.

Some you open for yourself and some you give. Here is what is behind the doors of each, and who it suits.

  1. 18+ Adults only

    Rude Christmas

For a laugh at the season itself, if you are 18 or over. It swears, it roasts Christmas (never anyone real) and it remembers what you did.

    Behind the doors

    • A complaint to Santa and a group chat crime scene
    • Nan on her third sherry, and a barbecue on fire
    • Courtrooms, a phone menu, a roast generator and a finale that remembers what you did
    • An Australian or British accent, and cheeky, rude or full feral

For adults. You'll be asked to confirm you are 18 or over.

    Free to play.

  2. 24 Days of Us

For your partner. Every door is already written in warm, grown-up words; rewrite as many as you like, add your photos and choose a love song for each morning.

    Behind the doors

    • Letters, memories and small dares
    • A date to choose, with a version for couples who are apart this December
    • A love song each morning if you like, from Etta James to INXS
    • Your own photos, and on Signature and Bespoke, voice messages and videos

For the person you love. Every door is already written; change as many as you like.

    From A$15

  3. Luxury Christmas Advent

For a grown-up you love who isn't your partner: a parent, a sister, a best friend. Send it ready-made in five minutes, or put your own words, photos and recordings behind the doors.

    Behind the doors

    • A recipe, a game, a letter and a little magic
    • A candlelit pause: three quiet minutes in the December rush, breathing with the light, a singing bowl and soft music
    • Your own message, photos, a voice recording, a family recipe or a gift voucher

For someone you love. They don't need an account, and each door opens at midnight their time.

    A$15

For yourself, or as a gift

The gift calendars are made by you and opened by them. You choose the doors, pay once and send a private link. They don't need an account, and each door opens at midnight in their time zone, not yours, so a calendar works just as well for someone on the other side of the world.

What adult means here

Only Rude Christmas is rude, and it says so: 18+ is on the door, and you confirm your age before you play. The other calendars here are grown-up rather than rude, written for people who would rather have a letter, a memory or a recipe than a chocolate.

Something for the whole family as well?

The children's calendars are on their own page, with stories, games and a very badly behaved elf.

Questions people ask

When do the doors open?

Door 1 opens on 1 December, then one a day until Christmas Eve. On a gift calendar each door opens at midnight where the person you sent it to lives.

Is Rude Christmas really 18+?

Yes. It is for adults only, and you are asked to confirm you are 18 or over before the first door. It is free to play, with an Australian or British accent and three settings from cheeky to full feral.

Is 24 Days of Us explicit?

No. It is romantic rather than explicit: letters, memories, small dares and a date to choose. Only the person you send it to can open it.

Is anything posted?

No. Every calendar here is entirely digital: nothing is printed or shipped, so it can't arrive late or get lost.
